I found an amazing resource the other day that I wanted to share. I stumbled upon a website called “The Work of the People” (TWOTP); you can check it out at http://www.theworkofthepeople.com . The website was founded by Travis Reed. Travis is an independent filmmaker who has created hundreds of short films. The mission of “The Work of the People” is to be “an independent ecumenical platform that produces and publishes multimedia to stir imagination, spark discussion and move people toward discovery and transformation”.
“The Work of the People” is a significant resource because it help you to more effectively communicate the gospel. TWOTP offers videos in six categories – Films, Visual Liturgy, Loops, People, Bundles, and Curriculum. The videos are visually impressive, beautifully done, and short enough to use in a variety of ways. Here are a couple of examples:
“The Work of the People” sells videos in two formats, either subscription based or pay per credit. They offer a monthly subscription at $25 per month or $300 a year; this subscription is limited to 20 downloads per month. They also offer an unlimited subscription for $250 a year but you must pay in one lump sum. If you do not want to purchase a subscription, you can instead purchase credits that can be redeemed for videos. The credits are purchased in blocks – $15 for 15 credits, $30 for 45 credits, or $50 for 150 credits. Most videos range from 10 to 15 credits. A 3 minutes video clip can be very experience unless you have subscription. So if you think are you are going to use this resource a lot, I would suggestion that you get a subscription. One of the best things about the site is you can watch the entire video before you buy it.
“The Work of the People” is a great resource and I highly recommend it to anyone in a teaching ministry. The videos could be used in a variety of settings and the resource is expansive enough that you can use the videos without repeating them.
